Our third season, ‘Women in Horror’ begins on Wednesday 30th October, subscribe on iTunes, Spotify or wherever good podcasts are found.

Horror films affect us all in different ways, but fear is a universal, and psychologically fascinating emotion. This season we’re exploring horror cinema as a tool to work through otherwise unbearable emotions, focussing specifically on the genre's female characters. Over six episodes, we'll look at twelve films divided into themes including demons, pregnancy, extremity, perfection, love and the detective.

It is sometimes claimed that the portrayal of women in scary movies is misogynistic, but here the proposition is that horror cinema presents a unique visual language for exploring the experience of feminine subjectivity. We'll also cover the way we and our guests consume and experience horror and the unconscious reasons the genre can be so taboo. Don't be afraid, we're here for you!
